About Next Generation Politics
Our nation is grappling with fiery partisanship, red-hot anger, and deep-rooted divisions. There’s no such thing as an overnight solution; there’s no magical sound bite; there’s no quick fix legislation; there’s no “ignorance is bliss.”
To address these rifts and bring greater understanding, tolerance, and effectiveness to government, young people need to unify not in their political opinions, but in a belief in their own political efficacy and potential to put synergy before strife. This is why Next Generation Politics was founded. As a nonpartisan, nonprofit, national organization, our goal is to foster civic engagement and to promote a culture of collaboration and cross-partisanship within Generation Z.
Our members engage in real discussion about complex civic issues and current events, devoid of mudslinging and inflammatory repartee. This is what the Next Generation of Politics looks like to us! We envision a future where “politics” is not viewed as a dirty word, but rather as a platform to bring people together to solve problems.

WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE?
To encourage the active and informed participation of young people in government. To facilitate a political culture that transcends ineffective partisanship and intolerance.
Who We Are
Founded in the summer of 2016 by high school student Ryan Adell, Next Generation Politics was entirely youth-led for its first two years. In two years, the young people of Next Generation Politics built a network of chapters from across the country and the world, grew its Blog as a medium for members to read and write a different kind of news, held town halls with elected officials from all levels of government, hosted debates and roundtable discussions, interviewed some interesting folks , organized fundraisers and more. The executive officers, chapter leaders and state directors of NGP certainly proved that, with empty wallets but plenty of persistence, young people can launch and sustain a powerful movement.
In the summer of 2018, Next Generation Politics merged with Civics Unplugged, a New York-based 501-C 3 nonprofit committed to empowering young people with an understanding of their roles and responsibilities as citizens. Held throughout the school year, Civics Unplugged hosts Civic Forums to provide a unique opportunity for juniors and seniors from partner high schools to learn from and connect with each other — as well as with educators and political experts — to explore issues and engage in robust discussion in a fun and supportive environment.
To maximize their collective impact and potential for change across the nation, NGP and Civics Unplugged joined forces, retaining the name “Next Generation Politics” for the expanded enterprise. NGP’s media outlets and chapter network will remain active, and Civic Forums will continue in New York and elsewhere. And fundamental to its identity, NGP will continue to be youth-led.
It is vital that the Next Generation Politics message spreads and resonates with young people around the world. As a generation of rising citizens, activists, and voters committed to creating a stronger civil society, we must equip ourselves with informed opinions to tackle persisting issues, rising above partisan mindsets that divide us and lead to gridlock. We hope you will join our movement today to shape the Next Generation of Politics!
